Runaway Rain Poem by Wayne Wickham

Runaway Rain

She sits in the corner of the condemned building
and weeps.

She has nowhere to go.
She has no one to see.
She has nothing to do,
except weep.

Friends, family and strangers
have deserted her,
and she doesn't fit in
anywhere in this estranged world,
or at least so she believes.

Her life has become an endless journey,
searching and longing for comfort,
which is so hard to find
in a world that does not accept,
and so, she weeps.

Tears dropp down dirty cheeks,
creating streaks of pink flesh
through the dust.

Arms around legs,
head bowed forward on knees,
homeless, hopeless and alone,
as she weeps.
