Running Poem by katie williams

Running

She runs until her feet feel numb with pain
Until the anger buries deep within herself
Until the tears are hidden behind eyelashes thick
And the past is left upon the highest shelf

Footprints of blood leave as she walks away
Each telling another painful lie
Secrets from her life at home
That she brushes off trying to deny

She’s left behind a world that seems so distance
A world for so long she’s been trying to escape
Crawl from the guarded windows of her life
To get away from being so emotionally raped

Taunting words that drown her life so weak
Strike her heart and make her fall
That tares her up and makes her cry inside
That makes her feel as if she’s 2 feet tall

Running till she cannot hear the sounds
Echoes from the place she once called home
Insults and cruel demising words
A place that’s never been her own

Her hands are ice and freezing in the cold
Shivering in the dark and gloomy street
Passing shadows in the moonlight
Watching out for who she just might meet

Strange and creepy men lurking in her innocence
Drowning her so she can’t take a breathe
Making her question what has happened
Until life is empty and she has nothing left

Burning flames guarding castle walls built high
Protecting her from dragons roaming near
From cuts that are bleeding under the surface
From old memories that bring alot of tears
