Running On Empty Poem by Stevie Hogendoorn

Running On Empty

I watch you sleep and it triggers me
To notice this is round number three
You and I have gone our own way
Both drifting to other parts of the lake

We always ended up back together
But I’ve lost the feeling of forever
It feels there is a world between us
I can’t figure out if it’s a blessing or a curse

How long will these rivers run apart?
Why can’t I hear the voice of my heart?

Bend but still not broken branches
Looking for or stop taking chances
We’re going back and forth for a while
And I can’t seem to make up my mind
It feels we’re running, running on empty

Lingering in my thoughts of confusion
What is real and what is the illusion
Your love is still hanging around me
But something is missing and I can’t see

I’m sorry if I’m hurting you right now
The sparkle’s gone I’ve lost it somehow
One last attempt to find it before I let go
Stick with me but I cannot promise you though

I can feel the situation of the relationship...at least there is an element of sincerity! Nice poem...it does rhyme. TQ for sharing.
