Saddness In The Public Eye Poem by Marissa Liebowitz

Saddness In The Public Eye

Rating: 4.5

It takes courage to cry
For all the world to see
Most of us pretend
To only be happy

Anyone can cry
When no one else is there
We fear that all our peers
Will shrink from voicing care

If i said I had the strength
To let others see my pain
I would be telling lies
From my emotions I restrain

I don't know why people are like this
But I think It's because We're afraid
Afraid that the world isn't kind and good
And that we truly do need others aid

Sadness in the public eye
Is a sign of being week
People who show depression
Are often viewed as meek

But the reality is that those who revile their woe
Only speak the truth
We want to ignore our anguish
Like we did in our youth

We refuse to believe that life is sad
Because we can not handle sorrow
So we turn away when we see others cry
And we hope and pray for a better tomorrow

And so the brave cry
And so the cowards smile
There are those who confront the truth
And those who live in denial

But of these two, I know not which is more wise
Those who cry and embrace our inevitable doom
Or those who smile and ignore it
But in the end we all lose
So i guess it doesn't matter

Wow, good theme and good write as well. Its not hiding emotions in public, coz sometimes they may just sympathize and or may laugh at your problems, so better to share it with only few genuinely concerned one. I cant cry in the public, but you know when ever I see my 'own' people I just cant stop, tears flow naturally. your heart knows it better. So don't worry, let the things take their natural course.....Keep smiling
