Saint Maria Goretti's Forgiveness Poem by Sam Edison

Saint Maria Goretti's Forgiveness

Rating: 5.0

Maria Maria you had no fear of losing mortal life
You had compassion for your assailaint during each stab of his knife
You had worries for his soul even as you lay there dying
You knew yours was off to heavan while the angels stayed there crying
He initially came to rape you but you said you'd rather die
So seventeen times he stabbed you without a single tear in his eye
As you laid there on your death bed you prayed to forgive his soul
Said you want to see him again in heavan not that infinite fiery hole
At only age eleven you died to do whats right
You later saved his soul when it was he who took your life

This is a beautiful poem. I loved it. Though I would point out that St. Maria Goretti was stabbed fourteen times, not seventeen.

To be in your mind would be wonderful Just the way you put these pieces togther. If we all could be like Maria. Stop all the hatred, and learn to Love more. You might be big when harming someone but it takes a true heart to let someone hurt, beat, and manipulate them. But turns over and still forgives them. Great poem.
