Salloon's Ten Yuan Pure Opium Brew Poem by Mason Maestro

Salloon's Ten Yuan Pure Opium Brew

Abuse of trade in Far East soil
Drugging a nation they could not foil
Sassoon couldn’t use up his quota of serving
Used to look in on the smoking dens at light
and from the glow of the moon on the Yangtze by night
Amused by the addiction of millions under the Manchu
And with the help of the Jews
They turn up the ten Yuan brews

Gunboats buzzing through the endless night
Enforcing moon shots and drug highs to ignite
Jesus Christ, imagine what it must be earning
A load in for Canton
A load in for the west
A load in for Nanking
For Shanghai
And the rest

Then the Manchu’s struck back
Seizing two thousand chests
Dumped into the Yangtze’s crests
Retaliation and war broke out at David’s behest
No match for the Manchu’s
In came the forces
Blockading ports, attacking the forts
Till China surrendered all their defense sources

With provisions designed to enslave a whole nation
The Treaty of Nanking ensured a continued fixation
Wrested imperial’s sword from the hands of the emperor
And a Hong Kong to stir a ninety-nine year frustration
Amused by the addiction of millions under the Manchu
And with the help of the Jews
They turn up twelve Yuan brews
