Sam's 'Thai Taste' Poem by R.Benjamin Abate

Sam's 'Thai Taste'

Why is Thai Taste so Good?
The Tingle on my Lips Lingers-

My mother brings Sam Basil-
He smiles-

-He resembles A child who just woke up on Christmas Day-
Thai Taste hits you like

'Bangkok'

- Your Lips Go Numb-

The sudorific spices swim along your tongue-
When you're on your way to Thai Taste your mouth waters-

The taste is so sacred like the footsteps of an Elephant-
Supper is followed by Scrumptious Rum Cake! !

I am Obsessed- Ever since I left
Thai Taste I've been a mess because it's the Best! !

Oh Thai Taste! !
How you put a Smile on my Face!

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
There's a place where my mom goes regularly in the midwest to eat lunch and give a kind old man basil that she grows herself in her garden. It's a family owned restaurant in Indiana that's called, 'Thai Taste.' I went to eat there with my mom and I enjoyed the meal so much that I wrote a poem about it. Sam (the owner of 'Thai Taste') read my poem and loved it, so they had me sign it, then they framed my poem and hung it up on the wall in the restaurant for people to see.

I love Thai food. The lines about how the taste hits you like Bangkok! and the taste being sacred like footsteps of an elephant, reflect how it tastes to me. Delicious poem :) pretty cool its up at the resteraunt now. Making me crave some good Thai food.
