Sand And Foam Poem by EU STRESS

Sand And Foam

You brushed like a receding wave -
Leaving imprints upon my sand ribs,
Like shells embedded upon the shore;
Ever since,
I have been caressing
Your foaming memories,
Gradually solidifying into
Layers of metamorphic rocks
Converging to usher
My island of forlorn consciousness.

You strode like gentle zephyr
Leaving oases upon my sand dunes,
Like blossoms burgeoning -
Beneath each footfall of a messiah;
Ever since,
I have been nurturing
Your fountaining reminiscences
Repeatedly assaulted by sandstorms
Attempting to submerge
Your ambit within my consciousness.

Come back……….
My sand grains lay parched,
Without the moisture of your foam.

Inspired by the following song from the movie - Raincoat, which relates how the unforgettable memories of Radha residing in Gokul keep perturbing the peace of mind of Lord Krishna, the King of Mathura, and he finally decides to return to her:

Subah subah ka khyaal aaj
Wapas Gokul chal Mathura raaj
Mathura nagarpati kaahe tum Gokul jaaon
Manohar vesh chhod Nand raaj
Sar se utaarke sundar taaj
Raj dand chhod bhumi par vaaj
Phir kaahe baansuri bajaao
Mathura nagarpati kaahe tum gokul jaao.

Kaun sa anokha geet gaye pee kakool
Raj paat jaise aaj bhai dhool
Kaun sa anokha geet gaaye pee kakool
Birhan laage phir hridaya akool
Raj kaaj mann na lagaao
Mathura nagarpati kaahe tum Gokul jaao.

Poor naari saari vyakul nayan
Kusum sajjaa lage kantak shayan
Poor naari saari vyakul nayan
Raat bhar madhav jaagat bechain
Kaahe aadhi raat saarathi bulaao
Mathura nagarpati kaahe tum Gokul jaao.

Dheere dheere pahunchat Jamuna ke teer
Sunsaan panghat mridul sameer
Dheere dheere pahunchat jamuna ke teer
Khan khan Madhav birha madeer
Usey kaahe bhool na paao
Mathura nagarpati kaahe tum Gokul jaao.

Tumhari piriya ab puri gharvaali
Doodh navan ghivoo din bhar khaali
Tumhari Radha ab puri gharvaali
Doodh navan ghivoo din bhar khaali
Biraha ke aansoon kab ke, ho kab ke ponch daali
Phir kaahe dard jagaao
Mathura nagarpati kaahe tum Gokul jaao.
