Sardonic Smile Poem by Udaya R. Tennakoon

Sardonic Smile

Before the mirror
I am here
Looked at my image
It was so different

It was not me
But it was me
Laughed at me and grinned
Stood fast for a moment
I cursed to myself
Not to image

By my fist
Fetched a blow
Crumbled mirror
On the floor

Distracted mind
Went into the cave
Trampling scattered pieces

Fetched a sigh
Not to cry
But to the past
Wanted to blast

Opened the window
To have fresh air
Sun was going saying bye
Birds were flying
In the spaced sky
Like for a goal

I wanted to turn back
To myself
As a new
Before the night falls
