Saved! ! Poem by Sandra Martyres

Saved! !

Rating: 5.0

As the speeding train passed by
There was a sharp shrill cry
Followed by a morbid silence
A young man was found
His head facing the ground
With a bleeding eye and a fractured nose
Broken spectacles and torn clothes
A pathetic sight he was

Fellow passengers merely walked by
Leaving him alone perhaps to die
People passed around him
As if they did not see him
Focusing instead on a fallen tree
Sadly, his condition did not inspire them
Basic human kindness did not stir them
To lend a helping hand to the injured man

Hope came in from an unexpected quarter
A young shoe shine boy seeing him
Let out a loud cry and rushed to a call box
With the speed of a wily little fox
And soon there was an ambulance hooting
With a medical team to the rescue
The young man missed a date with fate
Thanks to a kind hearted shoe shine boy

It is only the starving who feed the hungry, It is only the pained who console the paining and strive to relieve them, It is only the poor and suffering who understand the suffering of the wayfarers since they feel they are one among the multitude as they are living in the open space under sky, ............very good theme and touching. Many a life we miss, he may even be a multi millionaire or an exceptional genius because of this trick of fate.

We get help from the least expected quarters. Its time to treat those people as equals, maybe they deserve more, cause they have a heart of Gold; and the others may be just.... Thanks for observing and enlightening us......
