Saved Poem by Susy Calle

Saved

I felt like it was all over
I stood there and yet I did not
It was as if I were telling another's story
How could it be my own?
If I felt so numb
When I should have felt the pain
Yet I was frozen in despair.
Run away? I could not.
There was no escape
I was trapped
I was left behind by my own
I decided to struggle
To put up a fight
There was a chance to flee
I did.
And there he was
At a distance
It was as if he knew
In the blink of an eye
In what felt like a second
I fell into his arms
I had been rescued
He had come for me
He took me away
I had been saved
No one could cause further pain
I flew away with my angel.
