Say No Poem by Genese Lozada

Say No

Brutal, immoral
As cold as ice
Chasing the weak just like a little mice
Freedom they have
But did not allow others to speak

A punch and a kick
They give the nameless, the hurt
And they’re not only a few
The victims
They’re voiceless but can be heard

Listen..Sshh..sshh...sshh...
Between the noises in silence
They’re wounded, they’re bruised
You can see it in their eyes
They weep in the dark
They want a voice, a voice to be recognized

Give them your hand and your shoulder too
Don’t leave them
You don’t have a clue
Of how bitter and frozen the world is to them
Killing them softly even at ten
They hate the world and the life given to them
They’re meek but they’re heaven sent
So why do you
Why do you call them names
See yourself aren’t you the one who’s lame
Picture it out
Of how tragic it was
A mom weeping for her child whose life didn’t last
Tell her, tell her
Now who’s to blame?
When you’re the one who’s placed her child in so much shame

Terror and fear he lived all his life
Didn’t you know how it haunted him till night?
Screaming, defenceless
Breaking like a glass
He slowly shattered in pain
Pulling his blanket
He felt his efforts were all in vain
Cause in that yellow bus
The story is still the same
Don’t give me that look
That stupid look you have
Cause I see a stain in the glass

Now you, you, you
And you too
Weren’t you there
Watching him too
Answer me
You call yourself nice
Now prove to me you aren’t really as cold as ice

Do you really want to stand there still?
Deaf and blind
Living in fear
There’s no gray between black and white
Give me your hand
Altogether we...
Fight!
Let’s put an end to their seemingly unendless victory
Speak up
For me, for him
For those victims of a bully
There are victims still alive
Give meaning to those who did not survive
Stand up
And in one voice we say,
“No to bullying! ”
