Schatten Freude (Shaded Joy) Poem by Sierra Staten

Schatten Freude (Shaded Joy)

In a sense of absence,
There is a particular light not shining,
And in the name of Darkness-
He is gloried with my discontent.

If such a light could illuminate many worlds,
Why is it true that, when departed,
It is a darker and more grief-stricken place
Than prior to the light ever having shone?

Why does the light fade so quickly,
Gradually taking with it a sense of a safety,
And why does this impending darkness
Bring about me rage and hatred?

For after the lights have come and gone,
It is forever on your mind, night and day.
