Science Poem by Paul Butters

Science

The science fiction genre is well known.
We worship Wells and Asimov and co.
Their fables fill our dusty shelves.
I write a yarn or two myself of course.
Yet more!
A science poet am I.

We never studied Chemistry
Or Biology
At my school.
Just Physics and Rural Science.
Yet Science is our new religion.
And Chemistry is King.

Muse fuelled Chemistry abounds around us.
Biology blossoms into genetic Genesis,
As we engineer with Physics.
Mathematical marvels in a multiverse
Of quantum singularities.
Cosmic rays light up my days,
Indeed my eyes.

Repeatedly I ask
Again and Again:
Is there any Life out there
In Space?

An endless hunger to know.
Just what’s our purpose then?
And Why?
