A warm embrace
Ur arms were my safe haven from the world
Or so I thought
For I suddenly winced in pain
The red river flooded my shirt
Stunned with shock i looked down
A black dagger parked in my heart
Confusion and anger flooded my brain
Ur words 'I love u', played like a scratch record in my mind
I sweated feverishly and my heartbeat slowed
I forced my body to gather enough breath
And said, 'U said u loved me'
U laughed heartily and said
'Babe, I confused love with my infatuation for the nation'
I blinked and u disappeared
Rendered senseless and gasping for air
This was the recipe for my despair
Tears ran down my face like a slave proclaimed free
I looked up to see a hand descending from the sky
With one quick pull the dagger was out
A golden needle with a glowing thread
Was used to patch me up again
And from the sky a voice emerged
One that i have never heard
It said, 'I was with u from the start,
U and I will never part'
Then I realized God had sewn my heart
