Sea Siren Poem by Anthony Burge

Sea Siren

Rating: 4.5

Revolving light

Burning bright

Stands tall on ink black sea

Raised blinking eye

Flirting allure

Beckons summoned me

Come closer, nearer

Lull by my side

Join me on rising tide

Change your true course

tack to my mark

With eyes shut wide

I’ll lead you through the darkened sea

Through winds of time and tides

Have faith in me

Your guiding light

I’ll guide you through the night

Disregard the shattered shards

Of those who came before

For they ran foul of jagged reefs

Upon my hidden shore

I sing a song of sirens

A lullaby to sleep

Come lie neath satin ocean

Held in my arms for keeps

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
O200hrs on watch in the wheelhouse of the 'Bathurst' mesmerised by the pulsing beacon in the distance, my eye drawn like a moth to the flame.

I get your drift. I can guess at 02.00 you could be mesmerised. A lovely poem and a good write.
