Searching For God Poem by Portia Lane

Searching For God

Rating: 5.0

Dear Father,

Where were you when I needed you?
I was in so much pain.
I prayed day and night for sunshine, but all I got was rain.

Where were you when I needed you?
I felt so lost and alone.
I tried finding a companion in your house, but not one saint was home.

Where were you when I needed you?
When I needed a helping hand?
I guess that you were busy, you are in high demand.

But why promise to carry my load, if it's a promise you can't keep?
Why promise to always be there, if you won't always be there for me?
I've been taught to never question you, and I'm sorry if I'm out of line,
But I need to know, have you even been real all this time?

Dear Child,

When you prayed I didn't answer
Because you were not talking to me
My name is Jehovah, Jesus is my son's name

When you knocked I did not answer
Because you did not knock on my door
Where you knocked was on the shallow doors of false religions core

When you stretched out your hand I didn't grab it
Because you were not reaching for me
You were reaching for a beaded necklace, you call the rosary

I do promise to carry your load, it is a promise I can keep
I will always be there for you, but you must worship the real me.
Your questions I'm glad to answer, they show me that your ready
Stay home today, and open the door when the bell rings.
