Secret Desires Poem by Edwina Reizer

Secret desires often inspires
unusual behavior
to surface onto the scene.
What does it mean?
Is there something that' s missing in you?
Things left unfinished,
things that you have wished
but found impossible to occur?

They lie there inside you.
Entanglements that might brew
it just won't leave you alone.
How do you stop them
from driving you crazy?
They come from your past
which is now hazy.
But still you feel the stir.

You pray. You say, 'Please go away.'
But in spite of prayers they stay.
It plays on your mind
and soon you find
they become an everyday thought.
But these flames of desire are fraught
with too many complications
and so you leave them
just as they were.
