Secret Love Poem by Edwina Reizer

Secret Love

I think of her on every day
and every passing night.
I try to hide my feelings
for I know this isn't right.
For what can't be stays with me
and doesn't go away.
How can it leave?
I won't release it
and so I am not free.

Most beautiful one you belong to another.
He's much luckier than I.
Does he make you happy?
Does he make you sing?
and if not I ask why?
I watch you from a distance.
I love you from afar.
I challenge myself to forget you
as if you were a burned out star.

But burned out you could never be.
You're indelibly on my mind.
The more I try to forget you,
the more it is I find
it's impossible, for men are weak
when it comes to love.
So I hide my feelings closed up tight
on every day and passing night.
