See The Outstrechted Hand

Rating: 5.0

Ostracized and demonized the undefiled straggle unnecessarily
through thoroughfares and byroads famished and ignored.
Hoping to replenish hope they aggregate their associates apparently
craving confirmation and understanding as their dilemma awards
attention however only amongst a sensitive and responsive minority.
Victimized and intimidated they continue to meander over hills
and summits with their infants on their shoulders starving for dignity.
Taking upon ourselves to utter the phrases of true empathy
We plea for humanity to incite the awareness of a higher reality
encompassing the consolations these refugees do implore.
See the outreached hand reaching toward you
Hoping for acceptance from the start
Giving them true compassion for their helpless and their young
who are waiting for their troubles to depart.
See the outreached hand reaching toward you
Clamoring for some contact and some heart
The situation is woeful with countless broken-hearted
with their dying children in their arms.
Shunning away with our empty conscious
while their fountains shed their tears
from neglect, hunger, waste and greed.
In this instance we are treacherously alarmed.
As their emotions issue warnings
I sense their unwholesome sighing
as I wish my lyric heals them in their time of need.
Although the politics and hypocrites worsen their plight indeed
A peasant’s vigilance stands helplessly disregarded
As the affluent chosen few contribute helping to clothe and feed
The end result is disconcerting and a true resolution is discarded.
See the outstretched hand reaching toward you
Aspiring for the world to stand at peace
Nonetheless rich men fight for strategies
despite the despicable tragedies
at the hands of these ruthless beasts.
See the outstretched hand reaching toward you
Waiting for the guns to be laid to rest
Yet for God it remains the same ever since our start
Mankind seems to be its own worst pest.
To activate apprehension amongst the scholars and the metaphysics
We beseech the sages of wisdom including the thirteen elders
to restore our faith and freedom of speech and articulate us apart
from a loss of individualism and convey a personal form of rhetoric
alleviating us from our incompetence and bringing the radiance we prefer.
Bravely contesting the simpleton’s fairy tale as an insult
Consoling the rampant liar to mollify his tone to the idealistic
Being expectant of a doctrine of equity and the cessation of iniquity
we ponder the graces of an ethereal spirit guiding us as we consult
our intuition with a trust of collectivism and integrative magnanimity.

Hi Kelly Actually atheist look to cherish this life on Earth. We do not need hypocritcal and pretensious holy-rollers. i would hope that perhaps an atheist could heal some of these problematic fundamentalists. My God is the existing fateful powers of a parellel universe. A non-moralist that beseeches us to give and cherish each other. I am not about to invent a new religion but for sure the institutions mostly bathe in inquity! Thanks for your complement. Paul

Although I am an atheist, I found this to be a superbly written poem
