Self Love Poem by Francis Duggan

Self Love

Self love as we know is a necessary thing
But leave it to others our praises for to sing
And though good self promotion to succes often lead
That depends on who you are or how bad is your need.

For your personal ambitions or for wealth or for fame
For glory for self and your family's name
But self love can be taken to the very extreme
And vanity is not a good trait it would seem.

Lack of self love as we know can lead to a life of crime
And many of those who lack in self love in jail serve some time
For a better life for themselves they cannot dream
Due to their lack of self worth which leads to low self esteem

Self love is most important when all is said and done
For if you cannot love yourself you cannot love anyone
But extreme self love for the soul poverty
As it often can lead to extreme vanity.
