Self Pride Poem by PAUL COLVIN

Self Pride

Rating: 5.0

You are yourself not someone else
Do not decry, dare not deny
When asked or told you’re something less
Stand proud and say, I’m me.
You cannot be what you’re not,
No matter what your background
Don’t be afraid of truths
Do not give way to higher claims
Stand tall and look them in the eye
Do not cringe at parents’ flaws
But respect the lot you have
Thank them for the gift of life
And pity those who put you down.

Strive to be the very best version of yourself... It's much better than being a second-rate version of someon else... Very nice poem and good advice too...

The best you can be is yourself, that is so true, sir. I like the last line, it gives one courage. I don't know who said it, but the quote is, 'Haters are confused admirers who can't understand why everybody else likes you.' Stay well.
