Self Pride Poem by Katherine Perry

Self Pride

Rating: 5.0

Spending all your time
Thinking of ways
To point the finger and blame
Talking to those who you think are friends
And agreeing with you the same

Making yourself feel big and bold
With pretenders by your side
Living your days with a heart thats cold
Talking to whom ever will listen when you
confide

The day will come
When truth is revealed
After all your pleasure and fun
But there's no going back
After the matter of fact
In all the evil that you have done

No matter what you say
About all the yesterdays
Your words fall upon deaf ears
Because love is stronger
Than the evil you ponder
Left alone with your own self to fear

So go ahead and talk till your ears content
And stand tall with your head filled pride
Cause the ones that have done you wrong
Are the the ones that tag-a-long
Only for a handout and an assumed free ride

And try to remember
That love holds the key
Something you know nothing about
For it's your own selfishness that sets you
free
And a sorry pride you can't live without!
