Ernst Toller (1 December 1893 – 22 May 1939 / Samotschin / Poland)
To restrain the beast
my rifle glows,
to fix the black barrel

The cry of the Snowy Owl.
A baby whimpers in the village.
bursts into the sleeping house.
The night smells of lime-tree blossoms.
