Shades Of Grey Poem by Chime Justice Ndubuisi

Shades Of Grey

You looked out of your window
On a hot afternoon Monday
You saw it passing: a shadow.
You wondered if it had lost its way.
You trailed after it
Wondering where it was going.
You wanted to touch it
It trotted away, running;
You wanted to follow it home
If there is a home for it.

Perhaps it has a name,
But it doesn't sound like it
Where was it coming from?
You wanted it to stop
You wanted to know its form
Would it stop if you stop?
Or trot away just like that.
Would it just fade away?
Like night before daylight.
Behold, it's the silhouette of your body!
