Shadowed Past Poem by Caitlyn Williams

Shadowed Past

I remember that one late summer evening. It was just us and the lonely night. I remember the stars shining down on us.......shining down on her. She was beautiful. Her soft, fiery red hair was down that night, and as i watched it sway gently to and fro, i fell unto her cautious gaze......those deep and luscious midnight eyes of hers, sparkled like black onyxes hidden deep within a mine, never to be found. But i found her. The wispy, shimmering light of the moon, shone down on her that night. I.......i could finally see all of the secrets outlined in the precious features of her face. I could see the outlines of the many tears that had been shed throughout the years of her life. I could see, the terrible and unspeakable fear hidden deep within those maskful onyx eyes. I could see the fragile bones that visciously protruded through her delicate skin, and the many bruises and burns that had been permanently marked upon her. I saw, that one night......all of the unspeakable horrors that she had endured for far too long. It's strange. How the moonlight is so good at revealing things to us......it's silvery light sees everything.......even if we think we can hide.
