Shadows Poem by Devon Herman

Shadows

Rating: 4.5

From the shadows they come
Looking for someone to take
Someone filled with love and hate
A child worthy of their touch
A child consumed in the flames of rage
Someone else to throw in their cage
Someone who has given up their hope
From the shadows they come
Looking for someone to take.

These shadows are fare from fake
They are creatures created not of flesh and bone
They are the animals born through anger and hate
Born in packs of thousands never born alone
They bend you to their will then eat you alive
You can't stop them
One spark of hate becomes a wildfire
The fire slowly consumes you, kills you
And all you can do is let it.
