Shadows Poem by Glenda PalmerVibert

Shadows

I looked at shadows
From the past last night
A dumb show, they mimed
their lives away on crumbling
Silent super eight.
They did not heed the camera,
they did not need an audience
to witness the reality of their lives.
Like the decomposing film
The silent revellers have
long gone, unaware of my existence,
but for a brief moment
my mother's eyes seem to
meet mine and she saw
my future in their past,
She saw my life-
She saw my soul -
and her tears fill my days.
