Shadows Under The Candle Light Poem by Dave Tendell

Shadows Under The Candle Light

The shadows can see, as sharply as the hungriest of birds,
but sadly choose not to hear the significance of God’s most essential words.
Stumbling through life, they prefer blindness to the sparkling light,
but often can distinguish the dark faded noises of the most deafening night.

It seems they imagine their superiority to the mighty candle light above,
Often ill-mannered and sinful, unfamiliar with the concept of true love.
The shadows frequently detonate, like dynamite, if at school the children pray.
Sadly, rarely together in a family, do both parents permanently stay.

Shadowed by darkness, they regard anything Christian a deplorable act to do.
Sadly, over the light of the Ten Commandments, they often most aggressively sue.
Instead of God above, they often worship the dark evils of money;
They make fun of God’s followers, as if they are doing something hilariously funny.

Absent from candle light, shadows seek out dark empty pleasures;
while wasting entire lives lacking appreciation for God’s most golden of treasures.
Like the little hand on a clock…for the minute, they blindly run,
forsaking the lighted candle, ignoring God’s blessings for a little excitement and fun.

They have no respect for God’s creations…The animals, plants and trees.
While God’s light shines on everything including shadows, even the rats, snakes and bumble bees.
They abuse their bodies, while polluting God’s fresh air, and carelessly littering around.
Like a twisting tornado, trashing darkness over God’s bright beautiful ground.

They MUST eventually see, like a vivid star, God’s candle shines magnificently bright,
all around us…even on the darkest shadowy night.
And like a mother’s hand, God will forgivingly be there,
because he has infinite everlasting love and Heaven to generously share.

Since there will be no unforgiven shadows in Heaven above,
They must trust immensely, in God’s unconditional love.
This will certainly brighten their lives, like a lantern’s fiery beam,
causing them to finally comprehend – that only God can grant them their every eternal dream.
