Sharing Our Last Pistachios Poem by Ernestine Northover

Sharing Our Last Pistachios

Rating: 5.0

We all need a place to call our own.
A space where we can be alone.
To let our thoughts be sorted out,
seeking what life is all about,
and our lives to finer hone.

We all need a friend to hear our woes.
Someone who our frail weakness knows.
To chat with, joke, laugh, dream and cry,
letting our problems heavenwards fly,
and sharing our last pistachios.

We all need a love to warm our days.
One that leads us down shared walkways.
Two in unison, perfect pair,
both cherishing and showing care,
hoping for skies of blues, not greys.

We all need a place to call our own.
A niche that is our private zone.
Where stressful troubles quickly cease,
relaxing quietly, at peace,
knowing that taxing times have flown.

We all need a place. A space. A base.
An embrace, away from the rat race!

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Ernestine, this piece is a plethoric pour of true to life fact, and delivered(but of course) with an equal pour of poetic justice, a la Northover...I like when a writer is perceptively creative in honing in on a single, word, or phrase in their work, that does not necessarily define the work per se, yet has its own significant impact, enough so, to employ it as the Title....and that's just what you have done here....Excellent Work, young lass! ~ FjR ~ ..2008..

Ernestine, you are so right we all need a place we call our own, that little corner where we can be alone. We also need friends at time to talk to from time to time. Beautiful poem. Top marks and thanks for sharing it my friend. Hugs David
