She Poem by Tamell Bailey

She

Rating: 0.5

Listen to the painful life she overcame
Then if you feel her heat you can listen to her flame
Listen to her knowledge and listen to her change
Through years of shedding tears she’s been ridiculed, ashamed

Listen to the strength of his voice when he speaks
Words which cut and slice so quickly,
To wound like knives beneath the skin deep,
As we listen to the silence caused by years of such violence,
Then we can understand why she’s so fearful and cryin’

We need to see some empathy cause she’s been damaged miserably
Imagine how it feels to be beaten down by your family
Though the same bloods running through his veins
He can’t be trusted and he must get to see that blood stain

We feel your pain; we’ve seen your struggle; now we’ll never be the same
When you think that no one loves you, just call any of our names
Someone will be there to steer you out of trouble
Whenever you need care, there’s always someone to hug you, and love you
