She - A Love Poem Poem by Thomas Kay

She - A Love Poem

She met me in the morning and it brightened up my day
She took me to a happy place, far far away
She made me laugh, and she always made me smile
She spoke words of love I hadn't heard in a while

She said, 'Yes', when I asked her to go out sometime
She knew from my eyes that I wanted her to be mine
She made me feel at ease when we hugged
She asked me if she could stay, I just smiled n shrugged

She went to every party and she turned every head
She made my house a home and my sleeping-spot a bed
She got me into painting, and walking on the beach
She talked to me for hours - no topic was out of reach

She was my best friend, my lover, my sister and my all
She knew we were falling in love, and together we did fall
She told me all her secrets and I gave her honesty
She heard all my dreams, and support she promised me

She fell in love with my family - as I did hers
She loved that they were a perfect mix of caring and disturbed
She told me I'd make her happy for the rest of her life
She looked most beautiful the day she became my loving wife

She traveled all around with me to places high and low
She climbed and swam and stole moments of love everywhere we'd go
She stayed up all night with me more nights than I can recall
She just needed to be there - no words were needed at all

She worked to make ends meet and she loved what she did
She only stopped for a little break when it was time to have the kids
She bore me three children - our three little treasures
She gave them her eyes, her hair and her thirst for life's pleasures

She had two boys first, which made me proud as punch
She finally had the little girl we all wanted so much
She had her looks and little quirks, even as a toddler
She raised all 3 - a perfect mother - no signs of a bother

She shared them with me, we were the fairest mum and dad
She gave me so much happiness I would never have had
She helped the boys to read, and her patience was amazing
She was the wise one, so I let her do most of the raising

She left us way too early, and told us, 'Don't be sad'
She said, 'Now it's time for you to step up as their dad'
She said, 'Look after them, you're an amazing father,
She's too young so maybe tell her about mummy after'

She had a tombstone, with writing gold and red
'She loved him and them to the very end', it said
She will always be remembered until my dying day
She is looking down on us, and 'I love you' is all she'd say

She smiled so much, her laugh still rings in my ears
She always talked me through my darkest fears
She was the smartest, most caring person in my life
She was my soulmate, my partner, my doting wife

She made me complete, and I miss her all the time
So love big, love lots, make all your love worthwhile,
Because you never know what's coming round the corner
And that's the story of mummy - she loved you, my beautiful daughter.
