She Sits There Poem by johnny dodo

She Sits There

Rating: 5.0

she sits there with that smile so inquisitive
that look in her eye as if she were the definitve
authority
on my inner being
my chest begins to palpitate
as blood fills my veins
my heart rate elevates
feelings of euphoria flood my brain
anxiety attacks
as I manage to extract
a tiny, miniscule-
particle
of sunshine
I normally keep confined
within the dark recesses of my soul
crack a smile and breathlessly fumble
out an awkward 'hello'
and still she sits there so so debonair
a moment ago that smile she gave
seems a distant shadow compared
to the waves of light expounding off her face
so vibrant so mystic if not just a bit taciturn
struggling to speak I'm discovering what it must be to yearn
and still she sits there
her gentle fragrance permeates the air
her smile widens in response
I feel the cadence of my essence further ensconced
her elegant oratory leaves me tingling with unaccustomed sensatons
'hello yourself' she playfully jests
and I regress
to my former breathless state of anticipation
and still she sits there
