Sheltered Boy Poem by Dorsey Baker

Sheltered Boy

sheltered boy afraid
of the risks life requires
all the severe thunderstorms
and raging fires
sheltered boy afraid
to dive into the deep waters
of responsibility
his weakness
unaware of the perfection
of his superb ability
sheltered boy his time
is running out
still has no idea
what life is all about
too old to be a child
but afraid
to be a man
other ships sail but his
stays upon dry land
