Heather Bisset (1991 / New Zealand)
Shine
We dim and we fade
Until we all just look the same
Are you tired of the pain?
Are you sick of the blame?
How about you close your eyes
And look to the other side
Forget all the lies
Everything’s worth a try
That ache in your heart
Isn’t going to part
That song in your head
Isn’t going to bed
Open your mouth and sing it out loud
Don’t slink into the shadow, be proud
That ache and song are a sign
That you’re one of a kind
You haven’t dimmed or faded
You haven’t been tainted
You’re the star that shines through
While all the others turn blue
