Shipping Days Poem by A. Jayaprakash Jayaprakash Panicker

Shipping Days

Shipping days

Life looks like a business today.
Yesterdays have been done away
And it is today that holds the key.
It’s shipping and trading days away.

It is all dockings and embarkings.
What is there up for an ugly grab?
That alone makes our lives worth it.
Alas, not for nothing we do a thing.

Would there be a present without me?
Would that world be any different either?
Who all have come to this market-place
And gone the same way without any trace?

Not many dare answer certain questions
That hold the key to the worst of concerns.
It is not the blind that do not see or foresee.
But the very intelligent and the wise per se.

It is an endless operation to break even
Today, tomorrow or say, some day after.
Our days would never come to balance
What is laid out and what is bailed out.
