Shot Poem by Doris Cornago

Shot

My lover failed to come

he had chastised me for

Failing to follow decorum

I am now lying on the floor

spilling my guts

clamoring for his attention

what's the use of a poem?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This shows you that a poem is instinctive, and maybe a bit premeditated. As I told the other poet, Adam Snow, it is like dialing 911 and what comes out is what needs to be said at that moment. I hardly revise my poems, except for glaring grammatical errors, but the thought and the manner by which they spilled out remains unaltered. It is exactly what I wanted to say in the manner used. Yes, I am starting on that cycle again of lack of attention. I would have taken a gun to myself if that were cleaner than what I am undergoing now - messy! All poets are basically.
