Show Me The Way Out Poem by Alfred Ramos

Show Me The Way Out

Lost inside these prison walls
A nightmare calls
Words lose their way in my mind
Naked thoughts are lagging far behind
It’s too criminal that the cell bars squeeze back
Leaving impressions of sorrow falling off the track
I see true darkness in the sliver of hourly blight
Sliding backwards in a dream of proportional light
Confinement encourages all instincts of animalistic desires
Maladroit decisions can’t put out perpetual fires
Words of wisdom fall through the cracks on the floor
Veins pulsating, missing what it can’t have anymore
Solitude stands in the way of mental massages
The brain is fried from daily doses of food barrages
Every night I wrestle with demons in my sleep
And these monsters make promises they can't keep
If I can hold back the attack
Withstand the deprivation of human contact
Then show me the way out
Light my way home
Show me the way out
I don’t want to be alone
I hope I touched a chord
