Sidewalk Chalk Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

Sidewalk Chalk

The concrete walkway is a masterpiece…
chalk lines of sunshine yellow, serene blue,
cotton candy pink and soft grass green
create a wonderful place where children drew

Blockhouses topped with triangular roofs
endowed with windows to gather sunshine
Multicolored flowers stand… towering tall
Blades of grass obediently march in line

Persistent purple repeatedly presents its hue
completing the curvature of bold rainbows…
paving town roads and topping a tall steeple
Tracing a rambling river as it happily flows

A scene with no clouds today…only joy
Walking travelers stop to pause and relate...
taking a moment to recall their childhood
Days of simple summer fun communicate
