Silence Poem by Nichole Herrin

Silence

Silence.
It frightens me so.
it screams the truth of things done,
things not done,
desires.
So loud, only the noise can block them out.
I sometimes tire of the constant noise.
But as soon as I tune it out and listen to the silence,
I instantly regret it and bring the noise back.
Silence tells us all,
the secret fears and truths we try to hide
with the noise.
