Silent Girl Poem by Midifo Yearns

Silent Girl

Silent girl with cares she bears unspeakable
Pain; an open wound that longs for balm
like rain on desert land wherein lie secrets
written in the sand to touch and clutch
a smitten life, from where so much is lost to gain
And innocence that broke, now smudged by stain.

One glance then turned the sweet but boldened
Face to glimpse that nothing part that leaves no
Trace and Oh the frightened soul of adult
Poise lost, surrendered to the ghastly
Noise of emptiness, cries silent tears
with child a prisoner of such dreadful fears

Secret known but lost and strongly mute it
Stands on wobbly ground while fists are formed
Hands outstretched and all around the fettered
Fowl deceives the fowler and ugly strangers
Prowl. They call, they shout, they seem to scream
From silent place that lies beneath the vibrant stream

Life can survive and will when story told be
True; when cleans-ed feet stand shod in every
Shoe; when heart is strong and brave and somehow
Knows faith with doubt, like light in darkness
Sows the seeds of peace despite the scourge
And justice silent, bursts in breast, gigantic urge!

Then silent girl may speak once more a word of
Power to challenge and confront the evil taste
Sour taste of reckless deeds that curse the
Young with pain and guilt for what they've never
Done, yet suffered at the hands of brutes
Caught bullets from a gun that evil shoots.
