Sin, Is Satan’s Knife

God’s peace eludes the sinful mind
It’s sleepless day and night
The help it seeks, can no one find
No hope of grace in sight

Can no one make this torment cease?
These restless nights depart?
Can no one give a child some peace?
And calm a troubled heart?

Who play the fool along life’s path
Who live their life to sin
Are sure to reap God’s coming wrath
When shame remains within

Once Satan has us in his hand
For filth we’ll lust and thirst
When finally sin takes full command
To death and hell we’re cursed

The devil’s out to take your will
To rob and steal your life
The liar comes to cheat and kill
And sin, is Satan’s knife

Yet we can rob him of his coup
If sin we would deny
In through God’s grace we’d start anew
If to ourselves we’d die

We must repent accept God’s Son
Receive the Father’s Dew
Remain God true till all is won
Amongst the chosen few

Invite God’s Spirit come with light
Stand firm through every test
Receive life’s garments pure and white
And find eternal rest.
