Since Childhood Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Since childhood the habit is developed forever
As the school observed strict rules for prayer
Entire students used to gather in prayer’s hall
Sing and make with once voice simple call

“O creator and father of entire universe
Take us from dark to light and spare the chase
We are your children and need full protection
Let there be good counsel and kind action

It was nice to hear those words
What a way to sing in clear heart and look forward!
It was mainly addressed to goddess of knowledge
To empower with wisdom and sharp intelligent edge

Yes it had tremendous impact on mind
We were praying it daily to find
And wish for all countrymen to live with one faith
“Spare us from hatred till the time of death “

Even though we used to fight and quarrel
But there after remained together and performed well
It was same brotherly attitude for sharing study
The atmosphere was congenial and students were all happy

I remember it and perform same prayer
Not because it has religious flavor
But it has touch of universal acceptance
Life is afforded to us by almighty and given chance

Whenever we meet old school time friends
The life story goes on and never ends
It has flavor of brotherhood and intimacy
So many of us agree to see frequently with increase in frequency
