Since I Last Poem by Les Wordsmore

Since I Last

Since I last wrote a love poem
It has been quite some time
Not to say I haven't loved
Not to say I haven't rhymed.

I saw you and I loved you
Loved you good and then I left
I'm gone and I still love you
Separate. Renders us bereft

Seems summer's frozen highways
Aglow in mystic haze
Span too far to bring near to me
Your gorgeous emerald gaze

July must get a move on
I'm sweating from his heat
Come August, come my darling
Our Autumn should be sweet.

Since I last wrote a love poem
We've met in love's embrace
We've shared nine of earth's rotations
From love's sleeve we've pulled an ace

Sequences of passion
Laced with ecstasy and bliss
Replay throughout my journey
On my lips you paint your kiss

I've driven days and dreamed of nights
Stayed with you and then turned home
Lived your love then shed a tear
Since I last wrote a love poem
