Sister And Brother Poem by RIC BASTASA

Sister And Brother

why do we have to be vigilant
about each other? a little complacent
one finds himself defrauded

a sister swindling a brother
this is not rare
a brother fights for his inheritance
that sister takes
without being just
unable to agree on common terms
they bring each other in court
not surprising says the clerk
we are attuned to this
as early as Cain and Abel
sibling rivalry is not nil
murder is near
roots are bitter.
