People around him
Often admire and value
His attire and demeanour
And ascribe his achievements
In moral and material life
To his dedication and hard work.

Climbing the ladder of success
Leading his life like a loner
Skeptic and remorseful
He often wonders in solitude
Whether it’s really his genuine
Dedication and hard work…

Or it is his first love
Which remained last too
Is one that compels him
To indulge in too many diversions
In an endeavour to escape
The constant pain caused
By her haunting memories
And irreparable loss.
