Sky Lanterns Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Sky Lanterns

Have I flown away,
escaped from these lines,
with tremulous breath, I whisper
“My mind winds to you.”

The waves of the oceans
obediently succumb
to our bodies curves;
they sigh in unison, in harmony.

Vaporize into me
we’re paralyzed, static
I squeeze out this breath
your petals float me out.

We’ll be sky lanterns
in communion with the heavens
before even knowing
we were loose, lost crystals.
