Sky, Sea, Wind And Earth Poem by Nia Schexnider

Sky, Sea, Wind And Earth

The sky is our ancestor, life was created there,

A few inorganic molecules in a lightning storm.

Our primordial ancestors were created in the sky,

They fell to the earth – the earth is our ancestor.

Those organic molecules were nourished in the earth’s seas.

The sea is our ancestor – that is where life began to prosper.

The wind is our ancestor – C02 in the atmosphere fed primordial life.

Nursed the cyanobacteria, and the cyanobacteria (more or less algae) created oxygen.

Yes, even the cyanobacteria is our ancestor.

To those who believe that God created you,

To those who would tear me down, to push their beliefs and God up,

My mother, my father, my brothers, my sisters are all around me.

I was not created to give my conscious thoughts and life to a God who I cannot see.

I see my creator every day, and my ancestry is all around me.

I am from this planet. I am part of this planet.

I am an expression of life – not an expression of fear of death.
