Sleep Poem by Pat Kunisch

Sleep

At night when I try sore to sleep
My mind drifts off to waters deep
Where once I wandered on the shore
Of a river whose cradle I still adore

In restless care I feel its tide
Ebb the bond where dreams abide
Tug the sleeves of youthful bliss
That journeyed from the morning’s mist

Through quiet waves its gentle song
Croons words that feel the soul belong
A lullaby for heart to render
Let darkness pass and sleep surrender
