Sleep Well Poem by Aimee Rozen

Sleep Well

You didn't wake up this morning...
I was waiting.
now you'll never fall asleep
with my face in your palm
or my breath on your neck
because your eyes are still closed
you look more peaceful
than I've ever seen before
but you're lacking the rhythmic
rise and fall of your chest
I wanted to crawl in your coffin today
and wrap your arms around me.
I needed you to hold me
just one last time.
But you never woke up.
